PITTSFORD RECREATION DEPARTMENT MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 3, 2004 PITTSFORD
MUNICIPAL OFFICES @ 7:00pm Meeting was
called to order by Rob Ketcham 7:02pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who
were present include Scott Kirby, Mark Poljacik, and Kathy Shortsleeves. Recreation
Director Randy Adams was also present. Guests present
include Mark Winslow. Recreation
Committee member Kelly Carter was not present. ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES The minutes of
October 12, 2004 were read and accepted. Mark Poljacik made the motion to accept
the minutes as read. Scott Kirby
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT The Recreation
Committee read the Recreation Director’s Report. Mr. Adams discussed how
successful the Halloween Teen Dance was on Friday, October 29, 2004, and how
there were 261 teens at the event. He thanked everyone who helped him ensure
that everything ran smoothly. Mr. Adams discussed the Craft Fair that the
Recreation Department was sponsoring on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the
Lothrop Gym. He noted that this is the second year in a row that the Recreation
Department was sponsoring the event. OLD BUSINESS Recreation
Committee Vacancies The deadline for
last round of Recreation Committee “Letters of Interest” was Friday, October
29, 2004. Mr. Adams reported that he had received one “Letter of Interest”
and that person, Mark Winslow, was present at this meeting. Mr. Adams welcomed
Mr. Winslow to the meeting and thanked him for his interest in becoming a
Recreation Committee member. Scott Kirby made the motion to recommend to the
Board of Selectmen that they appoint Mr. Winslow to the Recreation Committee. Mark Poljacik
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Adams passed
on a letter of Resignation that he received earlier in the day from Kelly
Carter. Mr. Adams noted that it was sadden by the letter but was optimistic
about filling the vacancy with another member from the community who should
bring fresh ideas to the Committee. Old
Business Cont. 2005/2006
Work Plan & Budget Mr. Adams
reported that he had completed and turned in a Work Plan and Budget for FY 2006.
Mr. Adams highlighted his draft FY 2006 Budget at the October Recreation
Committee meeting. He further discussed the fact that this was the first year
that the Department Supervisors were responsible for creating their own budgets.
Mr. Adams thought this was a much more productive way to do his budget than the
old way where the Town Manger would produce a draft budget and he would have to
rework the numbers. He feels the supervisors know their departments better than
anyone else and they are the most capable of forming a budget that will be
practical for the next fiscal year. NEW BUSINESS There was no new
business to discuss at this time. With no further
business to discuss, Scott Kirby made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Kathy
Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting
adjourned at 8:00 pm. Respectfully
