PITTSFORD RECREATION DEPARTMENT MINUTES OF OCTOBER 10, 2006PITTSFORD MUNICIPAL OFFICES @ 7:00 pm
Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 7:06 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include Scott Eugair, Kathy Shortsleeves, Kathy Brown, and Mark Poljacik.
Recreation Committee Member Alternate, Jenny Parker and Recreation Director Randy Adams were also present.
Recreation Committee members Michele Cioffredi and Mark Winslow were not present.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of September 13, 2006 were read and accepted. K. Brown made the motion to accept the minutes as read.
M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORTMembers of the Recreation Committee read the Directors Report.
OLD BUSINESS
2007 Movie Nights @ the Recreation Area On Saturday, August 5 the Recreation Department and Cinema Sid’s Traveling Film Festival sponsored a FREE outdoor screening of “Charlotte’s Web” at the Recreation Area. Approximately 40 people of various ages were in attendance. R. Adams said he was trying new and different ways to utilize the Recreation Area. He thought the showing went well enough to look into sponsoring more movies next summer. R. Adams indicated that he planed to discuss the topic with the Select Board before he agrees to anything for next summer. R. Adams indicated that a neighbor of the Recreation Area had confronted him with some reservations about the idea showing more movies in 2007. S. Eugair made the motion that the Recreation Committee approve the concept that the Recreation Department sponsors 3-5 evening films at the Recreation Area during the summer 2007.
M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
FY 2008 Work Plan R. Adams solicited the Recreation Committee again as he did in August & September 2006 to think about items such as projects and/or programs that they would like to see included in the plan. He informed the committee that department budgets for FY 2008 are due October 20, 2006. R. Adams went on to explain that he was scheduled to present the FY 2008 budget to the Selectboard at the November 1, 2006 meeting.
Planning Commission/Town Plan The Planning Commission has begun working on putting together the next Town Plan. They contacted some members of the Recreation Committee to attend their Planning Commission Meeting on Tuesday, September 19, 2006. K. Shortsleeves attended on behalf of the Recreation Department.
NEW BUSINESS
Senior Programs R. Adams pointed out to the Recreation Committee that the Recreation Department was beginning to take more of an interest in serving the seniors in the community. He noted that the Recreation Department and Maclure Library already had a meeting scheduled in October to brainstorm ideas for different programming.
With no further business to discuss, K. Brown made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
S. Eugair seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
